Veteran's Issues as a Practice Area

Carolyn Elefant writes a great blog for solo and small firm lawyers called My Shingle.  In a recent post she has a great suggestion for an area of law a solo or small firm lawyers might want to think about developing to suppliment their practice and provide a great service:  Veteran's Issues.

As she writes:

A few years back, I highlighted a small firm specializing in veterans' issues.  Now, four years later demand for legal services for veterans remains high.  Fortunately, for solos considering veterans rights and benefits as a practice area, there are multiple opportunities for first rate, hands on training.

She goes on to talk about some of the training available.  In addition, one might also look at:

• National Veterans Legal Services Program
• Massachusetts Bar Association Dial-a-Lawyer for Veterans
• Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans
• ABA - Training for Pro Bono in Minneapolis & Milwaukee June 17 & 18, 2009
