"This American Life" is one of the most popular NPR programs (and podcasts) because Ira Glass and the people he works with are wonderful storytellers.  Here is his big secret, he hasn't always been such a great storyteller.  He had to learn.  Lawyers are storytellers and there is a lot to be learned from the journey of this master storyteller.

Here is Ira Glass talking about the anecdote and the power of it to create an engaging story out of a sequence of otherwise boring sequence of events.  Take a listen and then the next time you are meeting with a client or thinking about a case, think what is the anecdote, what are the questions, what is the moment of reflection for your client's story:

If you can piece those facts together in a way that asks questions that lead to the ultimate point - the moment of reflection, you are on the road to telling your client's story in the most compelling fashion.

- Peter H. Berge
