"This American Life" is one of the most popular NPR programs (and podcasts) because Ira Glass and the people he works with are wonderful storytellers.  Here is his big secret, he hasn't always been such a great storyteller.  He had to learn.  Lawyers are storytellers and there is a lot to be learned from the journey of this master storyteller.

Pandemics: What We Can Learn from 1918

It seems the pandemic threat is waning, however, there is no reason to sit back comfortably.  It is not "if" it is "when" the next pandemic will happen.  If you are worried that our sociental/governmental response to a flu pandemic, as you should be, might not be any better than our response to Katrina, you are probably right.  Below is a fascinating video from Laurie Garrett, author of "The Coming Plague," from the 2007 TED lectures on what we can learn from the 1918 flu pandemic.  She talks sense and explodes a number of myths:
