William (Bo) Flanagan of The TEMPUS Group runs the WooSpark blog.  He asks in his Feb 17th post, "Recessions: Time to Build It Up or Tear It Down?"

He notes that a down market is a great time to figure out whether your business model is solid.  Indeed, you need a solid business model to survive but those who do will prosper when the economy starts turning around.  As Bo notes:

And, given that, it leads to what I think is an important point.  Recessions are the time when you can tell whether you and your team are effective.  And, because you can tell, this is the right time to do something about it. To plan.  To build.  To optimize.

For the rest of Bo's thoughts on the topic:  "Recessions: Time to Build It Up or Tear It Down?"
