Sam Glover from The Lawyerist posted an excellent article Law Firm Website Best Practices.

As Sam notes:

Law firm websites should serve two purposes: (1) they should make it easy for potential clients to find the law firm; and (2) they should make a good impression so that potential clients become paying clients.

He goes on to expound on his several "rules" for website construction:

  • No matter what you do, do it for a reason
  • No Flash
  • Balance text and graphics
  • Tell visitors what you do
  • Tell visitors why they should hire you
  • Give something away
  • Make it easy for clients to contact you
  • Avoid being generic
