Daniel Pink on Motivating Employees

Daniel Pink is a guy who thinks out of the box.  He has some very interesting thoughts about motivating employees in his latest book, Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us.

Yes, the book isn't actually out yet so I haven't read it, but he has been floating the ideas already, such as his TED talk.  His basic thesis is that your employees are going to be better if they are creative.  Traditional modes of employee management and rewards stifle creativity.  Companies that encourage creativity, like Google and BestBuy are succeeding.  Thus, one need what he calls "intrinsic motivators" to give employees the time and autonomy to be creative, deeply understand and area to reach your overall goals.  Here's what he has to say about it:
