Google's New Search Options

Who of us does not rely on Google?  I remember thinking AltaVista was the bomb, and it was then!  Well Google is giving you even more options.

Google has taken some of their Advanced Search Options and put them more directly forward for your searching pleasure:

On Tuesday, we announced Search Options, which are a collection of tools that let you slice and dice your results and generate different views to find what you need faster and easier.

We know that people search for a wide variety of things and we're continually thinking of new search features to help them find information more quickly and easily. The idea for the Search Options panel originated as a way to accommodate the functionality offered by these new features within the search results page. While it might seem like the panel was simple to put together, a lot of collaboration between design, research, and engineering happened behind the scenes in order to produce the best experience possible.

The new search options is contained in in a side panel that can be displayed or hidden when you go to the Google Home page.  It allows you quick access to restrict your search to types of content like Videos or Forums or by time.  Now, I'm wondering if they will incorporate more of this into the Google Toolbar with is my preferred means of access to Google Searches!

Here is a video outlining the new Google Search Features:

One warning, apparently Google is not rolling this out all at once.  You may or may not have the Google Search Options menu when you go to Google (I didn't when I checked, for example).  Keep checking, they should appear in the near future, according to Google.
