Don't be Caught in the Twitter Phishing Scheme

Don't get caught in the Phishing scheme that is spreading on Twitter.  It comes in the form of a DM (Direct Message) to you with an inviting come-on like "hey! check out this funny blog about you..."

Don't click on the link, it takes you to a site that looks like Twitter's home page and asks you to sign in to your Twitter account.  You've just given your Twitter account information to someone.

You can recognize the scam easily.  If you click on the link, look at the URL it takes you too - it will include ".access-logins" in the URL.  This is a chief lesson in avoiding phishing scams - take a second and look at the URL you are being directed to.  You will usually find something suspicious that will tip you off that you are being redirected to a rogue site.  Here's a screen shot from Twitter showing you what to look for:

Here is more information on the scam from CNET:  Twitter Phishing Scam May be Spreading

Here from Twitter itself:  Gone Phishing
