Mousing around in the Windows environment is great, but not always the most efficient.  That's why a lot of us use keystroke shortcuts to get around.

Richard Dineen of NYC Consulting has a few suggestions of useful keystroke shortcuts:

Ctrl O    Open a new document

Ctrl Home    Go to beginning of the document
Ctrl End    Go to the end of the document

Ctrl A    Select the entire document
Shift Arrow    Select text from the insertion point with the keyboard

Ctrl X    Delete the current selection and move it to the clipboard
Ctrl C    Copy the current selection to the clipboard
Ctrl V    Paste the clipboard contents at the insertion point

Ctrl Z    Undo the last edit
Ctrl Y    Undo the last undo

Ctrl B    Turn bolding on or off
Ctrl U    Turn underlining on or off

Ctrl S    Save the current document
Ctrl P    Open the print dialog window

Richard Dineen of NYC Consulting has over a decade experience consulting and training on technology issues with small businesses and law firms.  He previously posted with SmallFirmSuccess.org:  Better Searching
