Apple just came out with it's iWork 09 suite including Keynote, its presentation program.  Watching this demo of the new features in Keynote, I could not help thinking what a powerful tool it would be for courtroom presentations.

I have been using Keynote over PowerPoint for a couple of years now, it is just make presentations looks so much better than PowerPoint.  The new version, Keynote 09, has moved that ball even further down the road with:

  • Magic Move
  • Object Transition
  • Text Transitions
  • Chart Animation
  • New Themes
  • Keynote Remote

Take a look at the video:

I can just imagine how powerful using Magic Move, Object Transition, or Text Transitions could be in a trial presentation. The surgeon starts with six retractors and with Magic Move they all go away but the one left in your client.  Proving an IP infringement case you could use Object Move to take the 10 salient features of your patented product and show each of them moving over to make the opponents product.  The Word Transition - Bush>Obama or Energy>Efficient - powerful.  How many times is a trial hinges on "they say x, but it's really y."  Using the Word Transition would be such a powerful way to state the class.

I'd love to see what folks can come up with to make their trials so much more visually appealing.  I have to think any lawyer who harnesses the power of Keynote would have a big leg up in the courtroom.
