It seems an Apple engineer (one thinks soon-to-be-if-not-already-former-engineer) left a working prototype of the next generation iPhone at a bar in the Bay Area while celebrating his birthday. Someone picked it up and it ended up in the hands of Gizmoto. It doesn't look a lot different. The biggest exterior change is that it has a flat instead of a curved back. Gizmoto reports that it is a little thinner than the 3GS. The volume buttons have been redesigned, the SIM chip goes in the side rather than the top. It looks to have a better camera with a flash and a front facing camera for all those camera at arms length, heads together photos that seem to be all the rage with the hip young set. For pictures and a video run down of the changes, check out This Is Apple's Next iPhone at Gizmoto. - Peter H. Berge
