More and more lawyers are using presentation software, like PowerPoint, or my favorite, Keynote, for everything from courtroom arguments to marketing presentations, but few of us do it well.  There is a lot we can learn from Steve Jobs.

Few would dispute that Steve Jobs is the greatest corporate communicator in living memory.  He creates visually stunning and, as a result, memorable presentations. How does he do it?  Carmine Gallo of Gallo Communications has come to our rescue.  He has written The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs: How to Be Insanely Great in Front of Any Audience and in the following Business Week video, he gives an overview and a few great tips.

Here are a few of the secrets:

  1. Use a headline - it should easily fit in a 140 character tweet
  2. Have a villin
  3. Use simple slides - eliminate the clutter
  4. One demonstration is more powerful than a thousand bullet points
  5. Have a "holy smokes" moment
  6. And one more thing...sell dreams.
