New York Adopts New Ethics Rules

New York has adopted new ethics rules and they go into effect Wednesday, April 1, 2009 (no irony here, I'm sure!).

The new rules are based in part on the ABA Model Rules.  The numbering and titles are directly from the ABA rules.  "About three-quarters of the new rules embody the current state code, with the remaining one-quarter lifted directly from the ABA's Model Rules or are ABA rules reworked for the state code."
